Foamit foam glass consists of 20% recycled glass and 80% air. With a loose bulk density typically ranging from 180–220 kg/m³, Foamit foam glass aggregates are among the lightest granular fill materials available.
The low weight of Foamit foam glass reduces loads on the ground and surrounding structures. This makes it an ideal lightweight fill solution for projects where low weight is essential, such as construction on weak soils, embankments, and areas with limited load-bearing capacity.
Lightweight fill for reduced loads
Foamit foam glass provide significant weight reduction compared to conventional granular fill materials. The low density helps reduce ground pressure, minimize settlement risks and enable construction where traditional fill materials may not be suitable.
Typical applications include:
- Road and railway embankments
- Lightweight fills behind retaining structures
- Bridge approaches
- Ground improvement on soft soils
- Rehabilitation and widening of existing infrastructure
